Vegetable oils are obtained from a variety of oil bearing seeds, grains and nuts, such as soyeans, sunflower seeds, corn (maize), rape seeds, peanut (groundnut) kernels, coconut, palm kernels, canola, safflower, castor, mustard etc.

Vegetable oil refining is necessary for vegetable oils & fats so they can be used for cooking and frying foods. Usually there are two ways of refining vegetable oil, they are Physical Refining & Chemical Refining.

1. Pretreatment and pre-pressing process

Extraction methods:

Use organic solvent through soaking or spraying contact methods to extract oil from oilseeds.

Cooking Oil Extraction:

1.Adopt stainless steel fixed grid plate and increase the horizontal grid plates, which can prevent the strong miscella from flowing back to the blanking case, so as to ensure good extraction effect.

2.The rotocel extractor is driven by rack, with unique rotor of balanced design, low rotating speed, low power, smooth operation, no noise and quite low maintenance cost.

3. The feeding system can adjust the rotating speed of airlock and main engine according to the feeding quantity and maintain a certain material level, which is beneficial to the micro negative pressure inside the extractor and reduce the solvent leakage.

4. The advanced miscella circulation process is designed to reduce the fresh solvent inputs, reduce the residual oil in meal, improve the miscella concentration and save energy by reducing the evaporation capacity.

5. The high material layer of the extractor helps to form immersion extraction, reduce the meal quality in miscella, improve the quality of crude oil and reduce the evaporation system scaling.

6. Specially suitable for the extraction of various pre-pressed meals.

Dewaxing/winterising process are as follows:

The oil is cooled in crystallisers and gradually the crystal formation takes place. Here filter aid is also added.

The oil is then transferred to a maturator where the crystals are allowed to grow. The oil is continuously cooled by the help of glycol water flowing through the coils.

Finally the oil is filtered on hermetic pressure leaf filters to remove the waxes.

For Rice bran oil, Sinoder has developed P P Filters which are more suitable for high wax oil.

The major advantages of this process is :

Single plant can be used for Dewaxing and Winterising.

Optimum care is taken to maintain the formed crystals till filtration.

Minimum filter aid consumption.
